The chameleon (Chamaeleo chamaeleon) is a lizard (Squamata) species found primarily in Africa. It is a highly unusual lizard species with zygodactylus feet like parrots, with two toes opposing two other toes for the purpose of grasping objects. Most species have independently moveable eyes and an extrudable tongue for shooting at and catching prey. They are also capable of changing skin color to match their surroundings. They do appear in pet shops but are difficult to care for, requiring moving insects for prey.
